To market an online store take quite a while and it is important the store is setup and the web address is fully marketed to anyone who visit your store. There many ways you can achieve this :-

  1. Add your web address (URL) to your store’s sign board
  2. Print your web address in your receipts.
  3. Print your web address in your plastic bag or shopping bag
  4. Prepare a small gift that you can give to your customers when they buy something from you. Add your URL in that gift.
  5. Print a simple catalog or card to explain briefly about your online store and give a copy to each and everyone who visit your store.
  6. One of the best way to get your customer to try out the online store is to price one special item on your online store with very special price and encourage them to buy online to enjoy the special discount. In this way, they will get notice of your URL and may buy more online at later date.

Protecting your valuable data

Many of us have heard of the fire in California, USA where many lost their valuable collection in one wild fire that run across many acres of land. Thinking, all the hardware that you may lost during such circumstances, you will be able to buy back later with a newer version with the money you may get from the insurance company. Others such as photos and documents, once burnt, are gone forever.

Hence it is important to keep all your important documents and photo all in digital copies which can be backed up easily and store offsite.

There many ways to backup your valuable data :-

  • By PC Backup System that back up all the data and email in your PC. This is the most straight forward and effective way to backup your data as a copy of the backup is save on an Internet Server that is offsite. The process is automatic and all newly added data will be backup real time. Hence no data will be lost as long as your PC is connected all the time.  If the amount of data to be large, it will cost you up to RM 180.00 for such services.
  • The second option is to synchronize your data directory to another drive in another location such as your office. Such synchronization process can be achieved using Folder Share which is free. The only limitation is that you can only synchronize up to 10 folders and a limit of 10,000 files in each folder. Again this process is automatic and you are not likely to loose any data as long as both PCs are online all the time.
  • Backup your data regularly to Tape or DVD and keep a copy offsite. This type of process is cost effective but it may not be reliable as it depend how often you will perform such backup.

Gmail, 4.41GB and still counting

With Yahoo mail now offering unlimited storage, Gmail is expected to increase the storage capacity for users. I have recently used more than the initial 2.8GB of space offered and continue to use Gmail. My recently login to my Gmail account found that the space is now increased to 4.41GB.

Gmail

Despite having Yahoo offer unlimited storage, I am still using my Gmail for several reasons ;-

a) The ability that Gmail to group all related mail/conversations in a single thread mean that the user will find it extremely easy to  read through the history of that conversation.

b) The mail search that is normally very fast is another reason that I stick to my Gmail.
